Dear David and the Champions of Yorkshire,
It’s been just over a week now since a small (!) ensemble from the Rothwell Temperance Band provided the main entertainment for Fred Malcolm’s 80th Birthday Party at St Benedict’s in Garforth.

As anyone could imagine, the party was an awesome success and it is without doubt that the variety of music and quality of sound proved the band are capable of success well beyond that of Yorkshire Champions. For that, Elaine and I cannot thank you enough. We knew you were good, but this concert was beyond excellence and we received nothing but the highest praise from all the guests. St Benedict’s is not the perfect venue for such quality sound, but you raised the roof, rattled the balloons, blew off some wigs and had some folk rushing to adjust their hearing aids! Fred was truly thrilled by your presence as he was not expecting such magnificent live entertainment, and we are happier still that there was sufficient food for you all to have a morsel!

We just wanted to say that you have done us proud. And to play Happy Birthday note perfect, and without any musical score is testimony to your professional excellence. We wanted the best for Fred and certainly got better than that! It was a super party and I don’t think we could have provided entertainment to exceptionally high standard from anywhere else.

Thank you so much for taking time out from your busy schedule and we wish you every success for the many challenging contests you have coming up in 2009.
