A very creditable first prize at Rochdale of £25 cash plus a course of study for the conductor with the Parr School of Music which eventually led Mr Roberts to achieve the B.B.C.M. Also a park engagement was awarded which the Band fulfilled at Rochdale on the 10th June 1956.
